ABOUT THE DESIGNER

I believe that all great design tells a story. Whether you’re working on interior design for a commercial space or on an abstract sculptural piece, the secret to truly good design is in the little details and elements the reveal that there is more to this than meets the eye. Good design should make you want to read it like a book, to uncover the thought processes behind it and unlock the secret meanings hidden in a color or a shape that most people would never see.

It’s no surprise that most of my work follows a narrative arc. I received my first bachelors degree in Creative Writing from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2012. I then spent several years trying to find my own personal narrative and figure out who I am as a person. I bounced around the country and tried a series of different careers and each highlighted a new aspect of my internal narrative and helped me to learn more about myself. Over the years I realized that all of my adventures had one thing in common: I was chasing stories.

So many people these days don’t know how to tell their own story. They live in generic spaces, work in white and beige offices and dress in unadorned business suits. But put them into a space or style that tells their story or show them a painting or photograph that they relate to and their whole world lights up. I realized that all I wanted to do was help people to find and tell their own story, whether that is through interior design, production design, or even through my own fine art.

These are the stories I’ve told so far.
